A while back we introduced you to the Summit Racing Spec Miata project car.
Well, after some track days and autocross events, the brake fluid in this trusty MX-5 was starting to get worn out. That’s because, thanks to the hard braking you’ll see in a track environment, the brake fluid was getting superheated more than it would in, say, a daily-driven commuter.
Repeated extreme heat cycling can reduce the brake fluid’s boiling point, which significantly compromises your brake system’s performance—and that’s something you’ll feel in your foot with a spongy pedal.
So the gang pulled the Miata into the Summit Racing shop for some brake upgrades, including new rotors, pads, and some fresh Summit Racing DOT 4 High Temp Brake Fluid.
